Pital, tamba and kansa — three metals, three traditions
Occasion Gifting
Brass, copper and kansa for the moments that matter

Rooted in Ayurvedic Tradition
In many Indian homes the day still begins with water kept overnight in a copper vessel, and meals are still served in kansa and brass. Ayurveda has long given these metals a place at the table.
- Copper — for water, kept in a bottle or jar
- Kansa — for eating and drinking
- Brass — for storage, serving and pooja

Kansa: The Metal of the Thali
What Is Kansa?
Kansa, or bell metal, is a traditional bronze alloy of copper and tin, with a pale-gold sheen and a clear ring when tapped.
The Metal of the Thali
For centuries kansa has been used for eating and drinking in India — thalis, bowls, katoris and glasses.
Valued in Ayurveda
Ayurveda has long given kansa a place at the table, and many families still serve meals in it every day.
Caring for Kansa
Wash by hand and dry straight away. Lemon and salt or tamarind brings back its soft sheen. Handle with care — kansa is hard but brittle.
